The Insanity Workout is just that – absolutely insane. According to other p90x reviews online, there are many pros to using this interval training program, but what about the cons? There are some cons associated with the program but it is important to note that these are largely based on individual preferences.
Perhaps the number one most common complaint about this workout is that it is too intense. Many people thought the workout was just too hard and moved way to fast. With interval training, this is really what is to be expected. Individuals can do as many reps as they want; there is not a strict number to follow but the pace at which the DVDs move from one exercise to another was too intense for some.
In addition, some complaints have surfaced saying that the program is not for everyone. Those that do not normally workout and are really out of shape are going to find this program very hard to do or stick with. The creators of the program BeachBody make it pretty clear that the program is not for everyone. Anyone interested in the program should definitely check out the website before buying.
This program really is not suited for those that are obese. Many people lose a considerable amount of weight using the program but they are able to follow the exercises. The program burns a ton of calories causing fat loss in the process. There is not a lot of room to slowly progress from one difficulty level to the next. Exercises only get harder and extreme from one DVD to the next.
This program does not work on building muscle. Some people have complained about this and were worried they would lose some muscle mass over the course of the 60-day program especially in their upper bodies. No free weights are used in the exercise – the program uses body weight instead which does not quite cut it for everyone.
After a while, the high intensity workouts put a strain on joints especially in people with joint problems. Anyone with joint issues should definitely stay away from this program. Ankles and knees are mostly affected so wearing sneakers at all times during the workout is necessary. Working out on softer surfaces is also preferable to lessen the impact on joints.
The music in the DVDs is a little off-putting for some. It tends to get old and annoying after a while. This definitely is not an easy program to follow and it drains a lot of energy. Scheduling workouts six days a week can be a bit of a nuisance especially for those that are completely wiped out after. This makes it hard to get workouts in before work in the morning.
